Xero is a cloud-based accounting software platform for small and medium-sized businesses.

Exclusive designer for the Bank Feeds portfolio, a complex product ecosystem for connecting and managing bank feed connections from financial institutions to Xero. As the sole designer working with up to 10 engineering pods, I handled design needs from concept to completion while executing deliverables with a high degree of autonomy.
Worked closely with the product managers and engineering pods, challenging assumptions and advocating for enhancements to Bank Feeds product features that met user goals, feasibility, and contributed to the company’s future or strategic needs.
Collaborated closely with several design disciplines including Xero’s design system team, content, accessibility, and design research to support and inform design decisions. Liaised with product marketing and customer support for important product changes and releases in Bank Feeds.

Key highlights and achievements included:

Modernised legacy product areas within Bank Feeds by using Xero’s design system and accessibility guidelines, complemented by thorough design research. This effort led to multiple successes: it opened up new opportunities for product development, significantly improved usability, and enhanced customer satisfaction levels. The modernisation work also laid the groundwork for both immediate improvements and long-term enhancements.
Collaborated with the Service Design team to create a data informed, end-to-end view of the support process for customers using bank feeds in North America. This identified painpoints and opportunities for future improvements.
